 "Brown Continues Winged Sprint Winnings"

 

POST FALLS, IDAHO – September 1, 2007 – Oregon’s Rick Brown returned to Stateline Speedway after dominating Winged Sprint car racing at the track in the spring to claim his second win of the year at Stateline and his fourth in the region Saturday night.

 

Brown, who also competes on the NSRA circuit and at unsanctioned races, dominated the 20-lap main event for the Inland Northwest Winged Sprint Cars passing Wes Helgeson on the outside off of turn two, midway through the race, to the claim the victory.

 

Brown also set fast time, after breaking the track record in May, but finished second in the heat and dash to series point leader Tony Berry. Berry finished fourth in the main after contact with a slower car on the start. Helgeson finished second followed by previous race winner Justin Popple.

 

Ron Turner rounded out the top five. Corey Harbison, the B heat winner, finished sixth. The Inland Northwest Winged Sprint Cars return for the final time of the season September 29 for their season championship.

 

Rathdrum, Idaho Hobby Stock point leader Ned Pennington continued his climb in the standings taking the wins in the fast dash, heat and 25-lap main event for the Hobby Cars. Pennington passed Monty Collison and Tyson Wilcox in route to the checkers. Gary Homel took the wins in the B dash and heat, finishing ninth in the main.

 

Bob Flaggor driving an ethanol-fueled car was fourth, Kyle Kennedy fifth. John Ward who led the early laps in the race until he spun with contact rounded out the top six.

 

Spokane’s Nathan Fleury held off Randy Lasswell in the shortened, caution and contact filled 20-lap main event to claim the win. Fleury also set fast time and won the heat. With the win Fleury closes the gap in points race, chasing point leader Randy Lasswel in second. Keith Williams was third. Craig Felix won the dash and finished fourth.

 

Next Saturday the Northwest Pro 4 Trucks return with past race winner Jason Majors, the ICAR Racing Series and Late Model 4’s also compete. Events start at 6pm. Adults are $10, kids under six are free.

 

The wild, wacky, unpredictable action of Wednesday Night Fever continues every Wednesday at 6pm with the cars and superstars of the Road Runners, Fever 4’s, plus the wild and crazy Bump to Pass division. Adults are just $5.75; kids under the age of nine accompanied by adults are free.
