FALLS, IDAHO – June 24, 2007 – John Grosvenor took the lead
halfway through the 75-lap main event to capture the 2007 Northwest
Pro 4 Nationals Championship Saturday night at Stateline Speedway.
Grosvenor topped a 30 plus car field, representing five western
states in route to the victory.
Grovesnor, a Puyallup, Washington driver, passed Utah’s Kurt
Madsen to take the lead after surviving an opening lap backstretch
wreck involving five cars including many of the race’s
front-runners and fast time setter Wayne Dillon.
Local drivers Kameron McKeehan and John Jackson of Lewiston, Idaho
finished second and third.
2006 Nationals champion Steve Thompson was closing in on Grovesnor
with 15-laps to go with Jeff Bard in tow. Bard and Thompson made
contact with each other dashing their chances at the lead.
Thompson pulled off track. Bard finished sixth. Kevin Koepke won the
wrecked marred 25-lap last chance race for the transfer to finish
ninth. Spokane’s Travis Allen, the third transfer, rounded out the
top ten.
Jim Bailey and Bob Winker won dashes. Dan Madsen and Jeff Jones won
the heats.
The Northwest Pro 4 Nationals was the second of a three race series
making up the Northwest Pro 4 Alliance. The series moves to Meridian
Speedway for race number three.
Kevin Burck set fast time in the Winged Sprints and tracked down
race leader Tony Berry to take the win in the 30-lap feature. Berry
suffered mechanical problems and pitted. Don Kudrna scored second
followed by Justin Popple.
Rod Nelson and Ron Turner won dashes. Wes Helgeson and Corey
Harbison took the heat wins.
Next Saturday local Street Stock drivers take to the track to defend
home turf when the Northwest Outlaw Street Stock Series invades
Stateline Speedway. Past race winners include Spokane’s Randy
Lasswell, Outlaw’s Dave Lund and Mike Press. Expected entries
include NWOSS point leader Mike Easley, Bob Greiner, and Gary Homad.
Also scheduled are the ICAR Racing Series, Early Stocks and Hobby
Cars. Events start at 6pm. Adult admission is $10. Kids under the
age of six are free.
The wild, wacky, unpredictable action of Wednesday Night Fever
continues every Wednesday at 6pm with the cars and superstars of the
Road Runners, Fever 4’s, plus the wild and crazy Bump to Pass
division. Adults are just $5.75; kids under the age of nine
accompanied by adults are free.
Tickets for Stateline Speedway’s July 3 Demolition Derby and
Fireworks Extravaganza are on sale now at the Stateline Speedway
ticket booth on race days and at Les Schwab Tires in Post Falls
during normal business hours.
