Fought, Garber Top Championship Night
POST FALLS, IDAHO September 30, 2007 Mike Fought and Colton Garber scored the checkers in the final Saturday night racing of the season at Stateline Speedway during the season ending championships. Fought powered past a stacked field in the INSCA Winged Sprints main event for the win. Colton Garber dominated the ICAR Racing Series championship event.
Fought held off a charging Kevin Burck in a ten lap shootout to win the 35-lap championship main event against a large field of cars from across the Northwest and Canada. Fought took the lead after a lap three restart slowing for two cautions in the last ten laps allowing Burck to close the gap with eight to go.
Fought powered away from Burck, who was struggling with nose wing damage, for the win. Burck won the fast dash and finished second, Frank Volz Jr. took third.
Fought also won the fast heat. Corey Harbison won a crash filled, twice red flagged, B heat. Point leader and last years Rookie of the Year Tony Berry finished fourth in the main event to clinch the championship for the series.
After rolling over in Fever 4 competition earlier in the week Colton Garber set fast time and led all 50-laps of the ICAR Limited Late Model Racing Series main event to capture his second win of the season in the division.
Garber sat on the pole and quickly set off with a strong lead, maneuvering through lapped traffic. Andy Brown, winner of the fast dash finished second to win the series title along with teammate Charlie Fiorino. Ryen Tarr finished third, his first top three finish in the series.
The race was slowed by two cautions for spins, a red flag for a three-car pile-up involving Shane Blakesley, Dan Bacon and Stacey Rogers off of turn two, and two accidents in warm-up laps. Nathan Fleury and Mike Eller Jr. rounded out the top five.
Shad Carkuff won the B dash. Corey Juhnke and Stacey Rogers won in the heats.
The wild, wacky, unpredictable action of Wednesday Night Fever concludes with the season finale championships, Wednesday at 6pm with the cars and superstars of the Road Runners, Fever 4s, plus the wild and crazy Bump to Pass division. Adults are just $5.75; kids under the age of nine accompanied by adults are free.
